The Road to Wellness Begins With An Intention
When I lead yoga classes, I ask my students to set an intention if they feel comfortable with doing so. The intention could anything at all - an intention for the class, for the week, or related to something they’re wanting to bring into their lives. Maybe it’s around a healthier body, a healthier relationship, or moving towards a more fulfilling job. Maybe they don’t even know what they want.. hey, that’s OK, I’ve been there.. and set an intention around understanding their true desires better. I believe there’s no right or wrong way to do this. The point is, when we want something, and begin a conversation with ourselves about it, it puts us on a path towards whatever it is. When we plant a little seed in our mind with an intention, we are asking ourselves for support, and our inner wisdom will help us on the journey. And, the journey might not be a straight path, and it might not be fast, and you might change your mind. But like they say on long road trips… “Getting there is half the fun!” The best part of the experience, in my opinion, is the getting to know ourselves on a deeper level. We naturally start to become more aware, over time, of our actions and thoughts, and our inner voice. There’s an inner voice that sometimes says “I should,” sometimes says, “I need to,” and sometimes says, “I WANT to.” And, the want to voice is what I encourage clients to connect with. As you begin or continue your path to wellness, what is it that you’re actually wanting to do, and what is it that you’re trying to talk yourself into? There’s a natural resistance that comes from being told what to do, even when it comes from ourself. And, so I ask clients to pay attention to their language and thoughts… We’re more likely to be successful when we’re in alignment with ourselves and our true desires. What is it that you’re wanting to bring into your life in 2022?
